I Was More Spiritual Before I Had Children
Posted on November 25th, 2008 in Gospel Learning
On saturday JJ and I went to the temple for the first time in three months. While walking to the temple doors we joked about how we were more spiritual before we had children.
- We went to the temple twice a month. Now with babysitters cancelling and busy lives we don’t take the time to go as often as we should.
- Read at least one chapter from the scriptures then had long discussions about what we read. Now we read 10 versus over little voices and squirming bodies on our laps.
- We actually paid attention to all of sacrament meeting. Now it seems that most of our effort is focused on keeping the children happy.
After our Temple service we picked the kids up from the babysitters and went to Costco. While at costco there was a section of Greg Olsen paintings of the Saviour which caused a lot of excitement among my daughter as they continually pointed at the pictures chanting “Jesus! Jesus!”. This experience of course changed my outlook of being more spiritual before children. The greatest opportunity I have now is to teach my children the gospel.
